How Gramercy Tech used Imagen to deliver an innovative conference experience

Editor’s note: In this guest post, we will hear from Gramercy Tech about their experience working with Google Cloud as both a customer and vendor. Organizing engaging events can be quite challenging, but by utilizing Google’s Imagen throughout the conference, the Gramercy team was able to demonstrate the possibilities of generative AI for creating real-time experiences.

Customization is key in today’s competitive environment, especially in the experiential and event management space that we at Gramercy focus on. We’ve found a way to take it to the next level with the help of Imagen models on Vertex AI.

For example, one of the activations developed at a recent Google Cloud event was the “Imagine Tree” (Interactive Storytelling). By using Imagen, Gramercy was able to create hyper-realistic visual narratives that were tailored to the needs of each attendee. This resulted in a collage of custom images that were powered by Imagen. Attendees could simply enter a text prompt into a form at a Pixelbook kiosk, and an image would be generated in response. There were no pre-selected prompts, but filters were used to ensure that all images displayed were appropriate for the public. Please see below for the prompts, actual generated event images, and the complete “Imagine Tree.”

Additionally, Gramercy found that Imagen has made customer interactions more accessible and inclusive in various ways. Imagen has language accessibility, which helps break down any language barriers by converting text into images. This facilitated clear and comprehensible communication between individuals who speak different languages. Imagen also has the ability to create step-by-step illustrations or diagrams that can make it easier for customers to understand even the most intricate procedures or configurations. Another important aspect noted with the use of Imagen was its ability to provide active content moderation through its built-in advanced text moderation capabilities. The API system intercepts any NSFW keywords in the input prompt before it reaches the model for generation. Given this advanced feature of the technology, Gramercy was able to feel comfortable and secure that the graphics produced would be appropriate for the event despite the attendee’s free rein over their inputs.

With the use of Imagen, operational efficiency was improved as well. The on-demand nature of image generation allowed over 10,000 attendees to quickly create their own images, leading to an efficient and personalized experience. From a broader perspective, generating custom visuals on the fly can streamline marketing and customer support, eliminating the need for time-consuming photoshoots or stock images.

By prioritizing accessibility, inclusivity, and operational efficiency with the help of Imagen, Gramercy has been able to stay at the forefront of technological innovation in event management. Our collaboration with Google Cloud has allowed us to help create bespoke and unforgettable digital experiences, and our continued partnership and innovation together has no bounds.
